Stortinget at dusk
As night falls on the city of Oslo, the Stortinget (literally meaning "The Great Assembly") takes on a new appearance. A grand building that serves as home to the Norwegian Parliament, the facility is well-lit come dusk. The neo-Romanesque structure, designed by Swedish architect Emil Victor Langlet, was constructed between 1861 and 1866. Its nighttime glow emanates peace and serenity. Accenting the view is a popular park situated directly in front of the building. The park remains exceptionally busy in the summer months. The Stortinget welcomes more than 25,000 visitors each year. Guided tours of the facility are given daily. Reservations are not required.
