Domkirke - central nave

A 17th Century cathedral, the Oslo Domkirke sits in Oslo's old marketplace, Stortorvet. The church features its original pulpit, altarpiece and organ front with carvings dating back to 1967. Colorful stain glass windows by Emanuel Vigeland line the walls as well as beautiful ceiling murals. The murals, which were painted between 1936 and 1950 on the churchís vaulted ceilings, are vibrant and full of color, quickly drawing the attention of church guests. One of its main attractions is the five-story church organ. Like many of the other buildings in the city, the church is decorated with the fine works of Norwegian artists.
